<p>Request for help</p> <p><b>New page</b></p><div>I hope that what I'm writing will be read by someone, preferably an<br /> ALSA expert.<br /> <br /> I am a longtime Linux user. Until three days ago I was using a very old<br /> Debian sarge. After some effort and help from sound experts, I had<br /> got my sound system working, back in February. My card is:<br /> via82xx VIA Technologies<br /> This last weekend -- Mar 22-23 -- I upgraded to etch. I performed the<br /> same drill<br /> apt-get install module-assistant<br /> module-assistant auto-install alsa-source<br /> that had worked for my sarge install. I have run alsamixer, to set<br /> my volume levels to high. aplay seems to run, on a variety of left-over<br /> .wav files. But no sound comes from my speakers!<br /> <br /> Suggestions?
